Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King - Where Do We Go From Here? (Conclusion) from MLK Speeches on Vimeo.

So today we celebrate Martin Luther King and of course we go off to work and school and visits to our doctors and for the most part ignore an American who we still have so much to learn from. Why as a nation do we ignore the people who fundamentally changed and shaped America.

This is a great speech, one of many by King, that should be required learning in schools across the America.

We are one.

Johnson City, where I used to live, is the only city in the area that does not have a street, park, or some other public site named for King. People are now asking why and no one in power is giving satisfactory answers. JC used to be a very liberal town until Reagan came along when it went ultra-conservative. It's decline has begun.
Another man who should be honored in the US as if he were an American citizen is Mohandas Gandhi.

I could read about him when I was a student but I hear his voice first time. Yes, it's a great speech. His English is so clear. And I love how the audience responds to his words.

Martin certainly learned plenty from Gandhi. These are the real "American Idols".

His speeches are simply amazing.
He spent a great deal of time studying other speeches and like many other preachers incorporated that into his own speeches.

He had such an amazing ability to connect with his audience.
I get chills when I listen to him speak.
