Oddness

There have been some strange things going on with my computer. The other day google was going to the google.es page and the sign in at the top of this blog was all in spanish. Hope I do not have a virus. Seems ok right now. Time to make sure all is backed up ok. Hate to lose everything. Just now when I went to spellcheck it said all was wrong and suggested everything be done in spanish. What the hell is going on? Do I have a virus?

Observations

It seems to me that all the press coverage over swine flu is a little bit of hype. I could be wrong but at this point it is all at bit much.

While everyone is complaining about torture we need to remember that Nancy Pelosi was briefed on this and said nothing. Now she wants to act high and mighty and is asking for hearings and a special commission. What a hypocrite.

It is a shame that Pontiac is going away. However the bigger shame is what GM did to Pontiac that caused them to kill the brand. Nice job of screwing up an iconic muscle car brand.

Venezuela Give Back Island to U.S.

This just kills me. So damm funny. This is the reason I like politics.

There are layers and layers of insanity in everything governments do. Who comes up with this stuff.

Thanks Obama

The president did something today that I like quite a bit. For many years now banks and credit card companies have been screwing their customers with unreasonable fees of various types.
Their has been little regulation of the industry even though consumer groups have been asking for regulation for years.

In my opinion credit card issuers have had little or no morals and they have made the consumer pay. They have given credit to people for far more than any reasonable lender had any right too.
They did this in order to enslave the consumer with large amounts of credit. Now the consumer has to share much of the blame. With the average credit card debt at close to $10,000.oo per household and poor payment history they ought to have some penalty for this. Maybe the banks should just lower those customers limits and really work on a payment plan. If you raise the interest from 8% to 18% how do you expect them to repay you. Just wondering.

A credit card issuer with any morals would not give consumers so much credit. Most people seem to have a large number of cards with high credit limits. What is the point of this? I think they want the customer to charge everything and use all the cards and NOT pay them off in a timely manner. They want you get the penalty fees each month and they want to own you.

They make the agreement to small and complicated for the average consumer to read or understand. It is all part of their scheme.

Well now the President has put you on notice to clean up your act and he will help you do this. He knows without his big stick that you would not do it yourselves. So I thanks Barack.

Please go away

So our wonderful governor is thinking about running the U.S. Senate. I say please go ahead and run for the Senate. You are very skilled at getting nothing accomplished and still manage to have a 64% approval rating. You have managed to get nothing done during your term and the state is completely screwed up. Please put that suntan fried brain of yours to work and get things fixed or get the hell out.

By the way we do not need more damm people moving in. I know it is tempting for you to have more people here however that is one of the big problems Charlie. We do not have the natural resources, such as water, and the infrastructure is pathetic. Not enough quality roads.

Of course you will not address these issues as they will make you unpopular so run for Senate and leave us alone.

Goodness

Last night I was sitting outside and saw a shooting star. It was the second one I have seen in the last month. I had not seen any in a long time. Very cool indeed.

The other cool thing was is the story about Susan Boyle, a frumpy English woman who has become a star overnight based on her performance on Britain's Got Talent. I urge you check out the video on Youtube. Very heartwarming. It is the kind of thing that should help restore faith in people. Please watch it and your day will be brighter for it.

Gone

Headed over to Daytona this weekend to meet an old girlfriend from high school. She got touch with me through Facebook. It will be interesting since we have not seen each other since 1981.
It should be interesting for sure. Who knows what it will be like.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter.

We Shall Remain

Here is my second recommendation for TV viewing. This is another PBS documentary series.
It is called We Shall Remain. It is a five part series on the American Indian.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/weshallremain/the_films/index

I have seen previews for all five segments and it looks to be very well done.
This should be mandatory viewing for all Americans so we will gain an appreciation for the people who were here before the white man. Since we have done so much wrong to them I hope that people came away from this with a better understanding of the forefathers of the United States.

This series starts on April 13th.

Appalachia A history of Mountains and People

Starting this week on PBS there is a four part series called Appalachia, A history of Mountains and People. It looks like it should be a great series for those of us who love this part of the country. It should give many people a better understanding of the South, its people and culture.

I urge you to watch it.

Spring

Just a nice little picture of a flower from the back yard. Yellow is a great color from our friend Mother Nature. Hope you enjoy the picture.

Justify your job

So everybody at work received their reviews on Friday and as I expected we all got poor reviews. We were all told that they have been doing the reviews wrong for the last seven years.
What a load of crap. Seven years and they all have been wrong until the new Vice President does them, imagine that.

We are doing more with a lot less employees, I am now doing the same job I have been doing plus the the job of the person who ran the retail store and half of the job of the shipping and receiving person. They do not like the fact that I work my hours and have only missed one day of work last year too illness.. My crime, not working overtime. So I get a 71 out of 100 because I do not work overtime. I miss one day, am not late, do not always take a full lunch and I get penalized. Thank you. Also one raise in 4 years. Show me some love.

Maybe you need to give us some respect instead of beating us down all the time. We do not stay late because you do not recognize it.

Off to work now.

Its done

So I have finished painting the "office" a nice yellow with white trim. It looks very good. Now the computer is a put back together and running. Have to decorate the thing now. I am gong to get some matting today and put some of my pictures up. Paint a bookcase and put a couple old cameras I have on display on it with a couple other trinkets. Then I need to figure out what to do with all the books. I hate the old bookcase. Need something with some style. Think I will go to and antique store and see what they have. Maybe get an old chair and small table to put in here.
Then down the road replace the crappy vertical blinds with some type of curtain. I hate these vertical blinds. They are old and nasty.

Man on Wire

Last night I watched a very cool documentary called "Man on Wire" about a man named Phillip Petit. The subject, tightrope walking. In 1974 he and he team managed to get into the Twin Towers and set up his rope and then tight rope walked between the Twin Towers. It is a great story and worth a watch. Rent it from Netflix, you will enjoy it.

Laura Ling

Not sure if many of you have Current TV as one of your cable channels but if you do you may know their reporter Laura Ling. She is one of their investigative reporters and in my opinion she does very interesting stories. She covers many stories that main stream media does not cover.

For the last two weeks she has been help as a prisoner of North Korea. She and Euna Lee, a fellow reporter along with a male camera man, who later escaped, where captured by North Korean soldiers along the Korean/Chinese border while doing a story about North Koreans escaping into China. It is not at all clear if they were actually in North Korea. They were straddling the border for sure. Now North Korea is putting these two on trial. Since we have no diplomatic relationship with North Korea we are using Sweden as our mediator. Much of the press has no said much about this. Of course this is great for North Korea and I bet they will use this for all they can. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly and these two are subject too any harsh interrogation. You know they have but put through at whole bunch already.

Keep your fingers crossed. Who knows where this could lead.

Things going on

Amazing that another cabinet pick of Obama is having to pay income tax money back. How do these people continually have these problems.

Still painting my "office" at home. Not fun when you work all day and then have to do painting after that. However it does look good. The living room is next on the list. Then the bathroom. After that steam clean the carpet and I will be done. Thankfully.

I wonder how low car prices are going to fall. I bet there will be some good deals coming real soon so these guys can get some money in the bank. I bet we will see them selling cars at the real cost just to move the product.

We are heading into some heavy water restrictions here. We are in a severe drought and the main lake we get water from is too low to use and the desalination plant is not working properly, it never has. They need to have a building moratorium until we get the water issue fixed. That will never happen.
