Sole O

Off to Miami to work for a few days. No blogging until later this week unless something major happens in this crazy world. Maybe I'll head down to Key Largo for a bit today.

Stupidly

Did the Cambridge police act stupidly? Was the professor belligerent? Who is telling the truth? I bet both sides are actually correct. The police have no idea what they are getting into when they go into a situation like this and I suspect the professor also ran his mouth. Both sides did not let cooler heads prevail.

The other thing I hear the news talking heads blithering about is why will Obama not produce his actual birth certificate. Give me a break Mr. Dobbs and you other assholes. We have bigger fish to fry and you are attempting to make an issue of a non issue. Find something that the American people really care about.

Thank you and report on some real news.

United Healthcare you suck

So I see that United Healthcare made a profit of $859 million dollars last quarter. Well thats very nice. The company i work for has you as our insurance company and what do we just get as a gift from you.

As of Sept. 1st.

Current deductible---$250.00
New deductible---$1000.00

Current percent covered---80%
New percent covered---70%

If you have a family it is even worse than that.

The cost is also going up and that amount has yet to be determined.
There are, of course, other coverage areas which are also going to be covered less and cost more.

This is a perfect example of why we need to get the healthcare system under control.
How does a company justify raising rates and covering less while make such huge profits?

There is no excuse for this. There is a total lack of morality and compassion for people when corporate America runs a business like this.

Being Low Key

A fairly quiet week this week. Saving up some for the weekend. Have a good friend in from California this week. So I will be out drinking and hanging in the sun a lot this weekend. I am also participating in a World Photo Walk event on Saturday afternoon. I am going to Sarasota to shoot at some marina. Should be pretty cool.

CSPAN

So many of us want to do things to change our government or send a message to our leaders yet we do nothing at all to get our message across.

Here is a very simple way to send a message. It will take just a few minutes to have your voice heard. Your activism starts here.

Go to http://www.cspan.org/, once your are on the home page click the resources button. In the drop down menu click congress/legislative button. Once the next page comes up your will see the the first column is called "Featured Resources". Under this heading the first two sections are U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. Click on one of these two sections.

When you click on the U.S. House section the next page that comes up will let you put in your zip code. Once you do this the next page you will see is the page for your representative. Once you are there you will see a link that will let you email your representative.

If you click the U.S. Senate button you will need to put in your home state and after that you will see a page with your Senators. There will be an email link for them under their names.

Now go and email them about what you think needs to be fixed. Tell what you like that they have done. Just do something to get started. Be an activist in some way.

We the people are the ones who put them in office. Now is the time to make them get things done that we see as important.

Power to the People.

World of Confusion

The death toll in Iraq and Afghanistan are climbing. The stimulus package looks like it may not be working. The North Koreans are attacking web sites of South Korea and the U.S.. The Chinese are supporting ethnic violence against the Uighurs, much like they have done in Tibet.

What is next? I think the President needs to take at step back and review some things that are going on and re-evaluate where we are at.

Seems like a shit storm is brewing someplace in the world and we are not ready.

Oh yeah, please stop raining. We have had enough for a couple weeks.
Thr girls in the picture were part of a wedding party roaming around Asheville.

Tour De France

We are now 4 days inti the Tour De France and all things seems to going right for Lance Armstrong. Of course there are many stages left and many things can happen over the next few weeks but today Lance must be feeling pretty good.

The tour is one of my favorite sporting events. The amount of energy these guys put out over the three weeks is staggering. Hell most people could not do one day one the tour.

Anyhow I like the tour and hope you do.

The bike is the picture is my late grandfathers. I am going to repaint it and use this to zip around the hood.

Friday Afternoon Fun

Gov. Sarah Palin is quitting two years early. If she is going to run in 2012 one would have thought she would have finished her term so she could gain some real experience. Christ I still cringe when I hear her speak. No it is not her voice. It is her totally bizarre way of structuring her sentences. Just plain pathetic.

Is there a scandal coming, maybe a show on Fux News, maybe a spread in Hustler. Who knows?

Really I want her to run in 2012. Hell I say "Liberals for Palin". Lets get the party started now.

Thank you Sarah for making the Fourth of July all that much better.

I am a fish

Man did we ever get hammered with rain today. As of 6 p.m. we have had 4.17 inches of rain at the airport. The previous record for today was 2.8 inches set in 1955. It is still raining and they expect some areas around here to get another inch before we are done for today. Half of my backyard is now a lake.

30 years ago today Sony released its first Walkman into the world. That product certainly was one of the major electronic releases in the world. Without that there would be no ipod today. Would you have imagined the Walkman would have had such an effect.

Goodbye Karl Malden.
