Wake up

For the next few days I am going to have pictures here that I want to put in the gallery. Opinions please.

Recently there has been lots of news about the state of education in the United States, Here a is an idea that will help. STOP cutting the damm education budgets. That is not an option that we should accept in any community across the nation. Cut your budget someplace else. Cutting the education budget may solve your budgetary issues, but it weakens us as a nation. How do you not see this as our elected leaders?

You also need to get back to having technical high schools that offer education in fields such as plumbing, automotive repair, electricians, cooking, hair dressing and other everyday skills that we need as a nation.
We all do not need business careers,  finance careers and so on. We need educated kids who can leave school, not go to college and already have some skills to offer in fields where there as jobs that need to be done everyday for everyday Americans. We also need them to get back to teaching arts. A nation without people learning about the arts is not a well rounded nation.

The Works

So the rundown of how the gallery went. I brought the books I had done and some of the things I had here so she would have a variety of work to look at. She liked what I had since, for the most part, it was not like the photography she had.. She wants several large prints mounted and matted that can be hung and smaller prints that are are inexpensive. I have several in mind and a decent cross section of what I have so that there should be something for most people.

Instead of charging for space the gallery gets 40% of the selling price. So now I need to really get to work and pick some work to get in there. The selling season should be getting into full swing with Christmas right around the corner.

Brutally hot Saturday, rain almost all day yesterday and look like lots of rain today. Bet this helps the leaves turn fairly quickly now.

Now Featuring

Just a quick Saturday night update.

Looks like I will be in this gallery soon.  http://www.greengoatgallery.com/.

Showed some work here today and they want me to put some stuff in. Going to pick some things for some decent size framing and some smaller stuff. She wants some to hang on the wall. I'll post my choices in a couple days.

Hot as hell here today. Almost pushed myself to hard while out in the sun today.
Thankfully cooler weather is coming in.

Sunny Days Ahead

Should be a great weekend. Autumn is coming this evening. Tomorrow were are going the Liberty Antique Fair in the morning then we are going down to Salisbury after that so I can show some of my work to a gallery. I think it should go well. It would be nice to be able to sell some work in a gallery.

I'll most likely head back to Salisbury on Sunday to go to see some of Autumn's friends and do some shooting. I have a place there I want to shooting. Did a little there last time and was not happy with how some of the shots came out.

I'll be happy when the work day is done today. The good thing is we are busy, but it has been a brutal week.

Thanks to the Republicans for the Pledge for America. Now go away. We really think you are idiots.
You want to eliminate Medicare, the Dept. of Education, the Healthcare plan, Social Security and Unemployment Compensation. Nice ideas, except for one thing. If we get rid of all that then I guess we can expect corporate America to pay its employees a much higher rate, that insurance companies will charge lower rates, that people actually lose jobs for valid reasons and then you will pay them a living wage while they look for another job. You are corporate whores, please go visit a gas chamber.

Hi. I need money.

This guys name has always amazes me since he is an evangelist preacher. Any preacher with dollar in their name tells you need to turn and away as fast as you can. It really his real name. Go figure he bases his teachings on prosperity.

I can breathe today.

Wow, I am running late.

Need to iron a shirt of wrinkles. Eat cereal. Take drugs and go to work. Hit the snooze a few extra times.

I love you. Send me cash. Really send me cash.

Jesus Used Cars

I went to the doc yesterday and got another round of Prednisone and also got Omnaris. I hope the Omnaris works since it seems that none of the other prescription nasal sprays work worth a darn.

I will be going to the gallery in Salisbury Saturday afternoon and bringing some pictures with me to see if I can some gallery space. I will be bringing small 4 x6 prints for the most part and some larger sizes.
I am also going to look for other ways to showcase my pictures. I am going to look for old window frames and things like that to mount the pictures. I think some of my pictures will show quite well in frames with old worn wood.

I also bought some clear cases, like they use to display footballs, to make collages with the beach trash I have gathered up. I have a bag with some of that. Hopefully they come out well and there will be some interest in those.

Have a peaceful day my friends.

Hairs to you

Went to the Raleigh Flea Market on Saturday morning. The only thing I bought was a Canon 500 mm FD f8 lens for $20.00. I know that I can sell this for $100.00 on ebay. Did not see anything else at all that stirred any interest. Watched the Bucs game yesterday and that was it.

Still very hot. In the 90's and that is 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. Looks like it is going to be like this most of the week.

Sinuses have been bothering everyone as some pollen counts are high. We need some rain to wash it away.

How long has this woman been growing her hair?

Shooting while driving

Taken while driving home Sunday.

Running late for work. More later.

Its snot a good morning

Ok, I do like to sing the praises of mother nature, however, Please do something with your over production of pollen. Really it would win you many fans and may earn you a place on Facebook. I like waking up without a head full of nose juice.

Yeah, the new season of Survivor has started. I do love this show. One of the cast members is the ole ball coach, Jimmy Johnson. I wonder how long he will last. I hope he last a little while so we can hear him coach.
Could be interesting.

Going to go to the big flea market in Raleigh on Saturday. Have not been since March. This is a great flea market. Hopefully I can find something cool. Like it won't happen. After the flea market I'll wonder home on some back roads and look for some things to photograph.

Here is another shot of  Botany Bay on Edisto Beach Island.

Piel

Man did the Tea Baggers win last night. Election day is going to be very interesting this year. Actually scary if they win in November. America coming off the rails if that happens.

Trying to figure out why I always have to log in to everything I have that has passwords. Not sure what the problem is. Ran some tests and all seems fine. I think it has something to do with my anti virus software.

Work has been very busy lately. A little hectic really. A little slow down would be nice for a few days.

Got to run. Going in a little early to help them get the store ready to open this morning. We have somebody on vacation this week.

Asheville, NC.

Botany Bay

Here is a shot of part of the beach at Botany Bay on Edisto Beach Island, SC. Perfect example of mother nature reclaiming land. Forty years ago the beach here was a least a half mile out in the Atlantic from where it is today. Now there are shrimp boats where the beach used to be. You can not take any shells or wood from the beach. It is very surreal when you emerge from the woods and step onto the beach.

Think I am going to get my hair cut today. It is starting to look a little scraggly.

Great baseball game last night between the Rays and Yankees. The Rays won 1-0 in eleven innings.
If things follow the natural pattern between these two teams tonights game will be a score fest.
The win put the Rays in first place by 1/2 game.

Not sure what is going on with my computer but every site that I have a password on it is not remembering my password and I always have to log in. What a pain in the ass. Too many usernames and passwords to remember.

5 1/2 hours

Yup, it takes 5 1/2 to get to Edisto Beach Island from Greensboro.

Had an excellent weekend at Autumns. Conversation, fun, food, beach, art, relaxing.
I actually got sunburn on the tops of my feet Saturday. That is a rare "treat" for me. Can't think of the last time that happened. Walked the beach looking for for beach trash to do an art project and unlike Florida beaches there really was very little. There some, enough to do something.

Yesterday we went to Botany Bay, a wildlife preserve. It was a plantation many years ago. That is long gone for the most part. It also is one the beach and the scenery is quite special. The beach is eroding as mother nature intended and the beach has tons and tons of shells. Never seen more at any beach I have ever been at.
Any how  because of the erosion the section of the beach that was on land is getting invaded by the ocean and all the trees and palms slowly die as the salt water invades the root systems. It causes this section of the beach to have the wildest looking landscapes. I suspect that I have many great pictures which I will put up as the week goes along.

Autumn gave me a picture of here and Brian back in high school and Chris look just like his father. Freakishly so. :)

It is funny how after thirty years away from high school and 12 hours from where we grew up that we connect through the web and except for the passage of time it seems like much has not changed.

How wonderful and odd the way things work.

Picture is from Asheville. The sun was basically right overhead with no clouds so this is not as nice as I wanted. But it will do.

Living Room

It seems the whole thing in Gainesville is one big mess. I wish the guy would just shut up and go away. It is annoying more than anything else.

Fell asleep watching the football game. Seems like I did not miss much in the end.

Really not much too say this morning so I am ending this post now.

Picture is from the River Arts District in Asheville.

Protest

I was looking at something in an alley in Asheville when I noticed the stickers. Seems that many people out there would find this combination to be quite true

My parents had their 48th anniversary yesterday. They went out of town for a day or two to get away and relax a little bit. Hard to imagine 48 years. Kudos to you Mom & Dad.

NFL starts tonight. Hopefully the Bucs do well this year.

Wow fire and floods hitting the country. Odd weather. They are saying some of that rain may hit here this weekend.

Do you think that church will burn the Quran this weekend. Could get ugly.

Nothing going on in Greensboring this morning. Gotta run. Bet he backs out.

American Mom

Not at all sure what this was all about. Some sort of performance art. This lady never spoke or looked at anyone. She pushed this and acted as if it was very heavy and was struggling with it. Very odd and interesting.

Not at all happy with the way my camera has been working lately. Many shots seems washed out or way too light. Not sure if there is a problem. Besides the fact it is almost impossible to see the viewfinder unless I am wearing reading glasses. It seems it may be time to actively start looking for a new camera. I'd rather not get one now as I want to save money so I will have plenty when I move to a house from the apartment.

Time to set up a budget and see where things are really at.

Worked sucked yesterday. Thankfully it is a short week.

Going to see Autumn in South Carolina this weekend. See lives on a little island right near the beach.
Should be a good time.

Ken let me know when you have a free weekend.

I could see the very beginning of the leaves changing color this weekend. Supposed to be a good year for fall colors.

Hi..

No picture this morning, sorry. Had a great weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect all weekend.
Upper 70's during the day and Sunday and Monday morning the temp was hovering around 50.
Lots of people out and about in the Asheville area, no shortage of tourists from what I could see.

Explored some new areas of the city, took a bunch of pictures that I will start posting tomorrow.
Had an excellent dinner Saturday night sitting outside on one of the main intersections in Asheville.
Great people watching. The dinner was at an Asian restaurant. Had wonton soup and then basil eggplant for dinner. They make all there noodles. Very good.

Sunday morning I went up to Weaverville for breakfast and had a spinach, tomato and mushroom quiche for breakfast. Yum.

The LAAFF festival was great. Good music, good art and lots of crazy people. All in all a very good weekend.

Hope you all enjoyed your holiday.

Westbound

Getting ready to take a shower, pack a couple things and head out to Asheville. With the big change in the weather it should be a perfect weekend all around. Need to step up my game and get a bunch of shots this weekend. Running a little low in shots I like. One good weekend can fix that.

Work has been busy so time away is always a good things. It also should be about time I do a camping trip for a night. Been a while since I went camping. Need a night of campfire, music and beer.

That's it for this morning my friends.

Peace out.

Sleeping Well

Got the name of a headache clinic yesterday. All they do is headaches and they take my insurance. Time to get the appointment.

Sleep so good last night I was wide awake a 4 a.m. Yippee. I would have rather slept well until 6 a.m.
Of well, take what you get. Used the time to go through my computer and clean up some of the junk files that were cluttering the thing. Did a load of laundry and changed the sheets on my bed. Now I could use a nap.

Not that I really wanted to but I renewed my Flickr account. If I did not then I was so limited to what I could do on Flickr and I still use it many things so I really had no choice. Since Megashot and Flickr are so different I use them for different things.

One of Chris's professors has dreads so already he has some cred with him.

Wish I was closer to the Outer Banks so I could head to the beach and see what kind of stuff the storm brings ashore. Need to head over soon. After this weekend it will be easier to get a place for the night along the beach. Maybe soon.

Picture is from some town in southeast Georgia. This was a dumpy section of town and did not feel safe.

Free

You all need to go to shutterfly.com and sign up. Last night I did a free photobook. 20 pages, hardcover. and it cost $8.00 shipping. I 'll have it in a week. Put your pictures in a book and you see them as a whole piece. They run specials quite often. These books make great gifts for friends and family.

Is the hurricane going to hit or brush the OBX. It seems most are staying. I smell trouble. A false sense of security I say.

A couple more days of 95 degrees before the weekend takes a turn for cooler weather. Nights in the upper 50's this weekend.

Working on a couple art projects for the gallery.

I talked to Autumn last night and she is having a couple shows soon. If I have things ready I can put some things in her show.

Ken you need to go on vacation just to get away from home for a few days.
