One week down

I have been "home" for one week now. So far so good except for the weather. Lots of rain. Hopefully it will be nice this weekend with my parents getting here tomorrow.

Want some nice weather. I have some things I want to paint and want to do that outside. I am going to paint the dining room blue and have some furniture I want to paint white.

I also want to get some things ready for the garden and would prefer decent weather for that. Maybe Sunday.

Time for coffee before my shower.

Its Tuesday

So far the house has been very good. Sleeping quite well. That in itself is a bonus. The only thing that sucks is taking a shower in a claw foot bathtub. No room at all. Will need to figure out how to fix that situation before too long.

Work is crazy busy. We really need more help and that is nowhere on the horizon. Money is tight because people are taking so long to pay us.
Can I please will the big prize in lotto.

I need a day trip to Asheville soon to reset my focus.

My prescription nasal spray I picked up today cost $70. It had better work better than the other prescription nasal spray to have never worked.

Nice pop song with horns.

Back to the Grind

Back to the daily grind.

House is more or less set. Living room set, but not painted.
Have not found the right color. Have to get more samples.

Cold. 34 this morning.

Uconn in the final four.

Why don't we try to wage peace instead of war.

Productivity in the Gib

Woke up this morning and it was 50 in the house. A little too cold.

Unpacked some boxes this morning. Went to the apartment and got all my albums and books that i did not have boxex for. 25 trips up and down the stairs. F that. I ache.

Came home and raked some of the back area. Raked some of garden beds. All loaded with tons of leaves and big chunks of mulch, bark size mulch. Much of it damp and moldy and growing fungus.
Unloaded the truck of books and albums. Raked some more. Hung my hammock. Rehung the hammock ina better place, will require minor bush trimming.

See the bush blocking the view back to the guest house. A holly type bush with really pointy ends. Gone. Always in the way. Hated it. I'll plant something much more colorful.

I have water. I am going to go visit the throne.

Ha ha Duke.

Blogging from the Gib

I am blogging from Gibsonville. All moved except for my books and albums. Ran out of boxes. I'll unpack in the morning and head on over to get the rest. Move went very well. The only problem is my king size box spring will not fit the up the stairwell so I'll have to come up with another plan in that regard.

I told you that there are tons of plants here. Well there are also miles of  garden hose. Wrapped around trees and fences. It's crazy how much there is. I'll have to cut some since some of it seems grown in to the fence and so on.

No water at the house. They were supposed to come by today. A slight pain. Guess I'll brush my teeth with Arizona ice tea in the morning.

All in all its good. My computer is in the living room. The only other place for it is in the bedroom. Time for a laptop.

Paint some tomorrow. Maybe a lot this weekend as it looks like a bunch of rain and cold weather is on its way. Rake some when I can.

Go UConn.

Its mine. All mine................

The house is mine. The closing was quick and painless.

Brought over a few things after the closing including sunflower seeds. Filled the bird feeder and the cardinals and other birds came over for dinner. I also saw a hawk. I'll have to use my Audubon book to identify the birds and I'll post pictures so y'all can help me figure them out.

I am going to bring over another load of things tonight and then wrap up the final packing tomorrow.

Going to be in the 80's today and stormy tomorrow evening.

Painting and raking are on the agenda this weekend. Come on over and lend a hand.

Green Green Grass of Home

What song does one play when it is the first day you become a home owner?
Well this song will work quite well for me. Thanks Gram. I like your version.

A little poem from me.

Small town life, no family in tow.
Garden to plant. walls to paint.
Memories to make, new friends to sow.

Trains roll by, birds will sing.
Ghosts of the past, new life to live.
Memories to make, what will they bring.

The church, the tavern, small town staples.
The crazy old man, the lovely young girl.
Memories to make, under the town's old maple.

The old house creaks under the weight of dreams.
The walls are talking, not saying what they mean.
Memories to make, so it seemss.

Ok so it may not be great. Just whipped that up while having my second cup of coffee.

Peace my friends.

Countdown

Did the final walk through of Gibsonville yesterday. Seeing the house with nothing in it tells me it needs painting immediately. I am going to pick up some paint samples today and test them out tomorrow or Tuesday so I can see what I like best for the wall color. Also going to pick up a rake, sunflowers seeds, seed starter trays, small branch clippers and a few other odd and ends.

Today is the first day of spring. The last couple days have been stunningly lovely here in Greensboro.
Color is starting to come alive. Two weeks from now things should be looking quite nice and green and red and yellow and pink and blue.

Picture is from Valle Crucis near Boone. A great area in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Toasty

Well now. What nice and toasty day. Nice and warm and glorious sunshine.

The final weekend of apartment living is here. Hell yeah. Next Friday the blog will be coming from Gibsonville. Movers are arranged. Final packing to be done. Load my truck with stuff on Sunday to bring over Monday after the closing.

What the hell happened to the Vols men's team today. Totally embarrassed.

Ken have you ever heard of these guys before. I never had until today on the way home from work. What a great band.

The Score: Evil -- 3 Peace -- 0

So the world continues to sit and watch as Libya and Kernel continue to crush the opposition to freedom. To bad it has nothing to do with oil and the fear the west will not get "their" people in power.

We also sit by as the Saudi's and the UAE send in troops to Bahrain and shoot at the protesters there. Again its oil and money leading the charge to crush peoples freedom.

Then we have Bradley Manning who is now being striped naked at night and being put into a "special suit" so he will not commit suicide during the night. Sounds very weak to me. Here is what our President is saying and a little background.

And finally this from the greater Greensboro area.

Have a lovely day my friends.

BTW---Tom Joad is the main character in Grapes of Wrath, by the one of our greatest, John Steinbeck.

Hi

Running late, slept late. Very busy at work. Draining my energy. Can't even keep up. Still doing last weeks work. Where is the money coming from? Mentally taxing.

Had to take a random piss test yesterday. Me and a couple others. I am still employed.

Need to put my fingers in dirt and under her skirt. :)

Next

What next for Japan? Nuclear meltdown seems to be right on the verge of happening.
Where does this lead the nuclear industry and the future of energy in the world as we move forward.

Got all my utilities changed over except water. I actually have to go to the Gibsonville town hall and show them my id and fill out the application. Small town charm.

I think these are the paint colors for the living room, http://www.homedepot.com/buy/paint/paint-samples-posters-fan-decks/behr-ultra/8-oz-offshore-mist-interiorexterior-paint-tester-ul22010-58429.html and the Glidden GLC37 an ultra white called Dove White. Opinions.

Have a great day. Time of shower.

Sleepy

Sleepy this morning. Did not sleep well. Not the best way to start a Monday.

I hope this week is better than last week at work. It was so iinsanely busy last week it was to the point one was ineffective.

How come you do not hear NPR fighting back against the Republicans?  The stories are much better produced and informative than any other news organization. It costs under $1.00 per person. Stop funding war and fund education instead.

The images coming from Japan are stunning.  Hard to even imagine or even know what to say about the whole thing.

The Final Countdown

A majority of the packing will be done today. Need to get a couple more boxes from work to finish up this week. Sort, pack, trash. That is the theme.

Lovely weather this weekend. In the upper 60's.

Finally got tires on Friday. Damm it feels weird to have new tires. I almost do not like it. You get so used to the worn one they are like old jeans or sneakers.

Hooray for the time change. It will be light until a decent time of the night so I can do things outside after work when I get to the house.

I need paint, ladders, rakes, assorted clippers for plants and trees, wheelbarrow. rain barrels, hoses, little trays to start plants. Send me your checks, please.

Violence

Bobby Kennedy made this speech the day after Martin Luther King was assinated. Booby, who was not well liked by many in the early 60's, became a changed man after his brother was assinated. It took violence to change his heart. He was transformed.

Watch the video below of his funeral train from NYC to Washington.
For many his death was the death of the dream. America and the Democratic party has not been the same since.

Rain

Up to three inches of rain over the day and a half is expected.

The picture is of a little store in mountains. I did not go in. Maybe next time.

I have my home owners insurance. So I will have my total monthly mortgage today or tomorrow. I think it dropped a couple dollars based on  the homeowners being lower than figured.

Wow work has been totally insane this week. Yesterday was a complete nightmare. there seems to be a lot of money getting spent. Seems odd since no government claims to have any.

Packing is coming along quite nicely.

Guess I need to line up utilities for the house and I should be all set.

Talk with y'all later.

The Big Crafty

Interesting sticker placement. A subtle message.

I made black bean soup on Sunday. Soaked the beans for hours, seasoned it and did all the right stuff and it really is flavorless. Thanks cooking God.

I had Ramen noodles for dinner last night.

What kind of greens should I grow for using as salad?

Has anyone here grown radishes?

Have a loverly day.

Monday Monday Monday

Over an inch of rain yesterday. Much needed. 30 this morning.

Will be done with most packing by the end of this week.

What is the price of gas today? Better fill up today. $8.00 a gallon tomorrow.

Adios Amigos.

Holy Crap

WTF. Blogger let me post a picture. It must be a fucking mistake.

Do you realize that the same assholes who are bitching and complaing about unions and teachers and public employees making too much are the same assholes who said we should not limit the pay of the CEO's of the Wall Street firms who screwed us all in the financial meltdown. The same ones who said we could not restrict their bonuses because they had contracts. Well the teachers and public employees in Wisconsin also have contracts. So stop being hypocrites you CEO brown nosing turd burgalers.

Got my home owners insurance so now I just need to get a mover lined up. The closing is in two weeks.

My scruffy faced fat ass is in the tv commercial for the store. I am a customer and they hand a handgun to me to look over. Bah ha ha ha. Need an autograph?

I need tires for the truck and paint for house. Which should I buy first?

I am going to take an old door, two old saw horses, get a piece of glass cut to go on top on the door and use that as my dinig room table.

Somebody told me about an antique place about an hour from here on a guys farm. 150 acres of crap all spread over the place. I understand, from Google searches, that Cracker Barrel, Applebees and designers go here to get items for restaraunats and home design. He sells cheap. Think I'll take my parents there when they come back through.

Short Post

Going in early. Have much work to do and we have a tv station coming in to film a commercial today.

Need to get gas this morning. Up 20 cents in the last week. WTF. This will have a great effect on the economy.

Sinus problems today. Pollen coming soon. Rain all weekend. Things getting green.

Crazy

Wow I am just swamped at work. I have 18 bids due over the next two weeks.
Just a tad insane. Wondering where all the money is coming from. Seems odd the government claims to have no cash and they are spending like crazy.

Going to get my homeowners insurance this week and then I should be all set.

My parents loved the house. Thought I made a great choice.

The buds are popping out on the trees. Between the rain and warm weather things will be getting green very quick.

I see fires are popping up all over the east coast of Florida. With all the cold weather there this spring fires could be bad. Hopefully they get some rain soon to keep them at bay.

Is Charlie Sheen going off the deep end or what. Sounds like a crazy man in his interviews.

Have a happy hump day.
