Could have been

Mother Love Bone was to have been the band to come out of Seattle but the singer, Andy Wood, went and overdosed on heroin. These guys have been one of my favorite bands of the pre-grunge era.

Two other members of Mother Love Bone were Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament who ended up teaming up with Eddie Vedder after the death of Andy Wood and that in turn gave us Pearl Jam.

The other story of the day relates to my participating in the "National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and Criminalization of a Generartion". The turn out was fair, 50 or so folks, and was lead by a woman whose son was killed by a Guildford County Deputy 10 years ago. He was unarmed and was killed within two minutes of the polices arrival. He needed medical attention not police intervention. Since that time this woman has dedicated her life to stopping police brutality.

We stood one a corner at a main intersection for 30 minutes before the march then we marched through one of the cities subsidized housing neighborhoods with the CaK a Lak drummers loudly drumming and someone with a megaphone at the very front calling out the the folks that lived there. We chanted "No more stolen lives" as we marched. We were well recieved. At the end of the march we went back to the corner for another 30 minutes while people spoke insluding one of our Occupy Greensboro members. His story. He has PTSD and while at the hospital waiting for treatment there was a confrontation between him and a security guard. Police came and the situation escalated. A fight ensued with the officer and he was tazed three times, ended up with a broken wrist, two broken ribs, locked in a straight jacket chair for 24 hours with no food and no allowed to get out to relieve himself. No charges filed against him.

Remember if you ever get arrested just give them your name and NEVER tell them anything else. Immediately tell them you want a lawyer. They will try to trick you and convince you that telling them everything will be to your benefit.

What "Could Have Been" for all the victims of police brutality.

I gave Summer a bath in the bathtub. She was not overly thrilled but was very good.
She has to look for her first trip to see the fall leaves.
Weather has been perfect today and tomorrow is more of the same.

I'd never heard of Mother Love Bone before; good band.

Police brutality is just so common that---what isn't covered up--people sort of read about it, become momentarily alarmed, and then take it in stride.

Hope your leaf viewing was good.
