I need to get to Bluefield to check out my property. It has been two years since I have been there. I suspect it is quite overgrown at this point and it starting to resemble woods and not lawn. I should do this soon before the weather gets hot and humid. This weekend looks good weather wise.

Summer

So Summer's results came back and she has a severe case of asthma. She has a very high count of eosinophils in her blood and now I have to figure out what she is allergic too.

I have a rug that I purchased right around the time this all started. I maybe the chemicals in the rug that are causing this. I am going to put the rug upstairs and see what happens. The rug has been her spot to sleep on quite often so it may be the cause.

My grandmother turns 90 today. She still lives by herself and gets along quite well.
Happy birthday Gram.

Another week of terror

How strange he is playing at the White House.

Saw a deer run through the yard yesterday. Not something I expected to see.

Started to sand the dining room table yesterday. Going to paint the bottom white and the top chalkboard paint.
Hope it comes out well.

Weather has been hot hot hot and will be so for the next couple of days.

Vacation of the Past

This is from Memorial Day vacation in 2007. Camping in South Carolina on this vacation. Had to drink discreetly at the state park since alcohol was illegal. Still drank boat loads of beer anyhow. Dumb rule that was meant to be broken.

Asheville was fun Saturday. However with my leg killing me and it being quite warm made from a less than desirable combination. Could have been much better with no pain.

This is the third year in a row with no real vacation on Memorial Day weekend. I took Friday and Tuesday off for many years to make a nice 5 day vacation. Man do I ever need to get back to that scene.

Not sure of today's plans. Some pictures this morning. Need to clean the gutter at the back of the house as it full of leaves. Looks like the ladder and leaf blower are in order. Blowing out water, leaves and who knows what else. The ladder should be fun.

Maybe I'll take Summer for a limp and she can hack her lungs out. Sounds pleasurable. Ok, maybe not so pleasurable.

Time to go outside and drink some decaf coffee, so I don't get those migraines, and listen to the birds.

The weekend

I'll be heading here Saturday amongst other places in Asheville. Gonna be toasty warm. Should be a great day of relaxing and picture taking. Will be nice to soak in a good vibe. Meet for a beer and some good food?

Summer is still in her recovery phase. Very relaxed and not wanting to eat. Her eye looks good. Now we have to keep our paws crossed for a good test result. She could barley walk when I picked her up. Had to help her in and out of the truck.

Here's to a nice long holiday weekend. May you all have a relaxing time in whatever adventures you embark on.

Well Summer is in for quite a day. Eye surgery and the tracheal wash. As I said yesterday the test hopefully will show bronchitis, not cancer. Whatever it is hopefully we can find a way to make her cough go away and her heavy breathing/panting less labored.

Send her some good vibes. She will need them.

Today Summer is going back to the vet because her cough has come back. I go to the doctor for my tibia since my leg is not healing like it should. Hey, its just money I do not have.

Some killer lightning during last nights thunderstorms. Summer was not so thrilled.

So a bout of bronchitis is going around work. Three people have had it. Not me.

Bought an old card table at a yard sale. Think I am going to find a small farmers market and sell some of my pictures along with sending some home so my mom can bring them someplace where they want to sell them.

Had to put a new battery in the truck yesterday. Thankfully it died when I was home.

Going to the doc on Wednesday for my leg. Was quite swollen Saturday.

Watch Chicago later this week as NATO meets in Chicago.There are many protests planned and Rahm Emanuel has tried to shut a big one down after the city had approved it. He said the protest was too getting to big. He lost that battle in court. You gotta wonder if he has heard of free speech.

You have to wonder how large protests and the city of Chicago as going to get along. something tells me things will not go well.

The Foundation

Happy Mother's Day to the women of the world. You are the foundation that keeps the world from coming apart on a daily basis with your care, comfort and nurturing.

So I  went to an auction yesterday. Conveniently it was right around the corner from my house. I ended up buying a Greek vase, $10, an old globe for $7.50, an old mason jar with the oil spout to put oil in your car for $5, a present for dad and a large oriental rug for $50. The rug is huge. Maybe too big for the living room and may go in the dining room. Lots of good stuff. I limited my spending very well. Some people spent thousands of dollars.

Across the street from them that neighbor was holding his twice yearly book sale. Bought a large book of pictures from the1970's with pictures of  New York subway cars with all kinds of cool graffiti, $3. A travel book buy a woman who traveled Europe as a photographer after she left college,$1 and a pop art picture book, $1.

My leg is really bad today, very very tight. I am wondering if I did something and did not know it at the time.

Clean house this morning and go for a little ride today. I'll bring Summer along as her Mother's Day gift.



A U.S. House panel voted to cut spending on food stamps, health insurance and other aid for the poor to avoid planned cuts in defense spending.I guess these fuckers never had a mother.

No real plans this weekend except for the farmers market and some yard work.

Maybe I'll take Summer for a little roadtrip on Sunday as a mother's day present.Wonder where she wants to go?

Bigots for North Carolina

If you thought North Carolina was not part of the south the amendment passing last night proved you wrong.
We are a sad country when bigots still try to rule us. Let the lawsuits begin and march to the Supreme court where the bigots will lose.

Last night I was outside and Summer was sniffing in some ground cover when a rabbit came flying out of the bushes. Of course she went crazy and then went back to where she was sniffing like crazy. He nose was covered with rabbit fur. When I went over to investigate I a newborn bunny crawling around. They are hairless and blind. Summer was going ballistic. I picked the bunny up and put it back in the den. I'll have to move Summer's chain or the rabbit is going to be gone. Hopefully it survives. The mother will go back to the den.
The internet told me so.

My nephew is back in Connecticut. I think he is done with California.

Planted the plants in the garden last night. Will the little rat bastards get them?

My leg has been sore the last few days.

I feel a trip to Asheville coming very very soon, wanna meet me there.

A decent weekend. Nothing special overall.

Went to the farmers market and picked up a few things. Spinach, Swiss chard, peaches, strawberries, goat cheese and qihoa maple bread. Also picked up a dozen jumbo eggs. I was talking with the woman who I bought the eggs and she told me they have 500 hens along with tons of other animals they raise "organically". Imagine getting eggs from 500 hens every day.

Also picked up some pepper plants, some type of small tomato plants I have never heard of and finger egg plant. Those only grow to about 6 inches long.

Picked lemon balm, lime balm, a spearmint plant, a mint plant, dill and pineapple sage.

Weather was quite hot Saturday and quite nice yesterday.

Took Summer for a nice long walk and she was happy and panting like crazy the whole time.

It seems like Europeans are waging war against the right and austerity. France and Greece gave a big middle finger to austerity yesterday.. When will we wake up here.

Primary day here tomorrow. Republican, democrat and the biggie is Amendment One. Amendment One is primarily for or against making gay marriage and covering gay couples with insurance benefits. It looks like the American Taliban is going to win.Several cities cover domestic partnership with their insurance and this would become illegal. Very sad this is likely to pass. Let the lawsuits begin.

First Friday tonight in Greensboro, yard sales tomorrow morning, farmers market tomorrow morning, planting veggies and herbs in the garden.

Wow did the temps and humidity ever crank up. Going to be in the low 90's today. Going that late in the year was great. The crowds very small and easily manageable. That was the week following Hurricane Katrina.

Really not much going on these days. In autopilot mode for the most part.

Summer and I are both on a diet. She needs to lose 20 lbs and I need to lose 50. Eat less and longer walks are in order. Maybe I can ride my bike with her in tow.

I need to get to Bluefield soon. It has been two years since I was at my property.
