Notre Dame

For several weeks now we having been hearing all this noise concerning Obama giving the commencement speech at Notre Dame. If you are not carefully paying attention you would think that the students of Notre Dame are behind this protest. However this is far from the truth. The protest is being pushed by Randall Terry and Alan Keys. These are not people who represent the views of most Americans. I would say that most people find Randall Terry to be a a little bit on the radical side. As for Alan Keyes well if he had any political capital he would be an elected official, However since his views seem to be getting more and more outside the mainstream he not longer is an elected official.

Every President since Roosevelt has spoken at the Notre Dame commencement and you can be sure that Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton did not hold the same views as the folks protesting President Obama. If these folks are holding the Catholic Church and its views so close their hearts why didn't they protest George Bush when he spoke at Notre Dame. If they are true in their convictions they would have protested Bush because of his views on the death penalty. The Catholic Church is against the death penalty and George Bush presided over the largest number of people put to death by the state while he was the Governor of Texas. See a problem.

If you watch the news today you will see the a large number of the protesters are clearly not students of Notre Dame. You will also see the numbers of protesters is very very small.

So just keep your eyes open and pay attention. Things are not what they seem.

If religion is an issue anywhere a president is speaking, then that place has given up its right to be tax and government autonomous. Religion and government need to stay separate.
