Enough with the insane amount of coverage of the death of Michael Jackson. There comes a time in the coverage of any event when you need to stop the wall to wall coverage if no news comes to light. That time came a couple days ago here. CNN's coverage was way way over the top. It has the effect of making the event seem less than it is.
Nice job by the administration on getting a health care program passed. It seems like the whole thing is going down the tubes. All the things that Obama beat his opponents up on during the campaign seem like they are the things he is caving in on. They should have worked on a plan and then went to work behind the scene to work out these issues instead of jumping into this things and having it fail or some piece of crappy legislation get passed.
What is happening to Barack? Of curse he is actually for more to the right than people really think so what should we expect. More disappointment. Yup..........

art-o-mat
Here is one of the coolest darn things I have heard of in a long time. It is called art-o-mat. They have taken old cigarette vending machines and repurposed them into art vending machines.
You get original pieces of work for $5.00. What a cool concept.

Go in Peace
Today we have lost two icons of the last 40 years.
Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson were two of theleading icons of my generation.
As a teenager I was one of many who purchased the iconic Farrah poster and of course watched Charlies Angels every week. From that time on Farrah always held a special place in my heart. She always seemed to me to be genuine person who seemed to always endure no matter what life threw at her.
Michael Jackson was a star before I even knew much about music. By the time I started paying attention to the music world he was already near the top of the pop music world. Michael is one of the greatest musical entertainers that we have ever known. He has left an incredible legacy for the music world.
I have always felt slightly sorry for him as the years have gone by. It seemed to me that he never really left his childhood and he also seemed to be in a certain type of pain that he could never escape. It really is hard to imagine what his life was really like. No matter what one thinks of what he became in his later years he is and was a musical legend. Michael like may truly talented people was a haunted soul.
So Farrah and Michael may you go in peace and know that you did well.

Crazy Mark Sanford
Its just a little strange that Governor Mark Sanford's little hiking trip is a bunch of baloney. Usually if you are going hiking for four or five days on the Appalachian Trail you would have to have planned it out. You would have to have some type of provisions for your five day hike. I also think you might want to tell people that you were going hiking on the trail. Unless this guy goes hiking on a regular basis it would seem that hiking for five days is a bit of a stretch. The trail is not known to be kind to beginning hikers. The whole things seems very odd, but then Sanford seems a little odd so who knows.

Nothing
Well life is pretty mellow right now. Had a nice laid back weekend. Spent the day Saturday with some very good friends, basically they are family. Hours on the beach and in the water. A few drinks dinner and conversation. A good time.
Mowed the lawn yesterday. A chore I despise.
Keeping an eye on Iran. Hard to know where this is all going. One thing people need to remember is that things will not change all that much with a new leader. You can not run in Iran unless you agree with the current leaders. The thing that caused the ruckus is that the election was stolen. It is that simple. The people of Iran are a very well educated citizenry. They are not some third world backwater. So even though Moussavi may become the leader do not look for a great change in overall policy.

Fix Health Care, you damm fools
I am getting sick and tired of our the spineless democrats in Washington. It is clear that the people of the country want health care fixed now and ours leaders can not seem to get it done.
If you can not get this done now with the numbers in our favor then you will never be able to get it done. Something tells me that we need to follow the money trail. I'll bet that a lot of money from the healthcare industry has flowed into the pockets of many a Senator and Congressman. We are watching you. If you fail use now you will be in trouble at re-election time. Because so many of you have no idea how most Americans really live and have no idea what it like to live on the financial edge you really do not care to get us a viable health care plan.
The health of every person on the face of the planet is a right, not a privilege.
The leaders of every country should want the health of their citizens to be the best that it can be. Why is this so hard to understand. I know this is a financially complicated issue. Nobody said it would be easy. We are paying you to fix things and to help us have a better nation. Now go and earn your damm pay or you will be out of a job.

How about leaving me alone
I am sick and tired of going to the grocery store, convenience store and other places and having them ask if I want to donate a dollar for this and that fund. How about fuck you and maybe your corporation should just make the donation out of their profits instead of making a donation to whatever "fund" using my money.
They are making these donations under their corporate name and they look good on the face of things. Use your profits for your donation and I will give to whatever group I want to give to directly.
One more thing while I am at it. To Verizon and Yellow Book and who ever the fuck else is leaving all those phone books at my house, please stop. Most of us have heard of the "INTERNET" at this point and when can use that. Also printing all those phonebooks is not green. Mine immediately go into the recycle bin.

Fix my Gas
So I say we need to start raising a little hell about the insane rise in gas prices.
They have risen at least 20 cents during the last two weeks. All this is being driven by speculators, again. There is no reason for this. I believe that if we start to raise a little hell, start driving less again and get the media to pressure the oil companies that we can cause prices to fall again.

Wanee Fest 2009
So last weekend I was at Wanee Fest 2009 and it was a good time. Got to see a bunch of great bands. The Allman Brothers played a 2 1/2 hour set both Friday and Saturday night. Both sets were excellent. They were quite a bit different from one another. Hill Country Review was fantastic. A must see band. Then I would say Drive By Truckers, Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks Band. That is my tops list.
The weather was very odd this year. Rain every day created a nice mud pit back aways from the main stage. Of course that lead to mud wrestling and frisbee playing mud fans. They always generate a nice crowd watching the mud people having fun. Had a couple of kids from Miami camp next to us and they were very cool. Overall it was a great time and good times were had by all from what I could see. Can not wait for the next one.

Rock n Roll
Well I have been on vacation this week and have not really done much. Between getting the brakes completely redone and new tires on the truck I spent a bunch of money.
However today I am leaving to go to the www.waneefestival.com and this should be a blast as long as the weather holds out. I should be able to get a bunch of pictures from a bunch of the shows. Good times will be had.

Insanity
Yesterday we had a pro life wackjob commit a cold blooded murder in the name of Christ in a church. Is this the way a person of Christ is supposed to act? What the hell is wrong with these people. In my opinion this murder was sanctioned by the inflammatory rhetoric of the lead anti-abortion nut job Randall Terry. Of course Mr. Terry would never actually come out and actually sanction this murder but if you read his comments you can read between the lines.
People like Mr. Terry are no different than the religious zealots that we are fighting in the Middle East.
